Judy Newcomb

    Judy Newcomb was born in Panama, Canal Zone. After living in several states on the East Coast, her family relocated to Richmond, Virginia, where she has been a resident for over thirty years. Judy attended Richmond Professional Institute (Virginia Commonwealth University) where she studied Art Education and Interior Design. After raising three daughters, she began her career in art.

    Her early artwork was created with oils and acrylics. Later, however, she became fascinated with the qualities of watercolor and began to focus her attention on the details of realism presented in soft, natural colors. She has worked exclusively in transparent watercolor since 1977.

    A popular national watercolorist known for her exquisite realist work of city scenes and still life. Through her success she has been able to support fund raising activities for organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

    Many of her original watercolor paintings are available as limited edition prints. Each print is carefully inspected for its quality before being signed and numbered by the artist. The paintings selected by Judy for prints are done so only with limited quantities.

    In 1997 the artist opened her retail operations known as the GREAT FRAME UP, JUDY NEWCOMB GALLERY, a second location was opened in 1999.

    The Great Frame Up is a full service art and custom framing company located in Richmond, VA.
